Very good points! Number 2 "Be persistent." is where most people fail. I always say that the salesperson who gets the most no's, is the one who usually sells the most. Failing over and over again is the way to suceed in sales!

A great selection of quotes to motivate the sales force.

One of my own personal favourites:

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the
courage to continue that counts." Sir Winston Churchill

Much of this probably depends on the industry. I work in the automated fingerprint identification system industry, in which we implement complete hardware, software, and service solutions - a single implementation could take several years. While sales has a voice in pricing, some of the decisions are also made by the program managers who are in charge of implementing the projects post-contract award. I honestly don't know my company's sales compensation structure, but I would think that the long timeframe for project implementation would make it difficult to align our sales compensation structure to account for actual project results.

Great article, great advice. With the economic pressures pushing all companies to reign in their spending, it's now more important than ever to demonstrate real value in a product or service. More than this, in an age of instant information in which potential clients use the internet to research the kind of prices and services available to them, it's become more important than ever for salepeople to get the value proposition right.

Love these quotes as I have my self a website with quotes about life. Thought it would be wise to share my favorite quote: "It's the choices that make us who we are, and we can always choose to do what's right." - Peter Parker
